Description: QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help

The Gatekeeper course is taught in a clear, concise format using the latest in educational technology and practices. The Course is evidence-based (through SAMHSA), heavily tested and peer reviewed. A gatekeeper is someone in a position to recognize a crisis and the warning signs that someone may be contemplating suicide.

Objectives of this Training:

• How to Question, Persuade and Refer someone who may be suicidal

• How to get help for yourself or learn more about preventing suicide

• The common causes of suicidal behavior

• The warning signs of suicide

• How to get help for someone in crisis

Target Audience: Gatekeepers can be anyone, including primary care professionals, employers and business leaders, faith communities, school personnel and educators, state police and corrections officers, nursing home staff, doctors, mental health authorities, state policymakers, volunteers, families, parents, friends, neighbors, and many others who are strategically positioned to recognize and refer someone at risk of suicide.
