The Certified Older Adult Peer Specialist program is designed to train Certified Peer Specialists (CPS) as older adult behavioral health specialists and wellness coaches. 

This specialized training in older adult mental health issues for Certified Peer Specialists Certified Older Adult Peer Specialists (COAPS) is designed to teach CPS how to work with older adults who have behavioral health problems and addresses a myriad of topics related to physical and mental health in older adults including normal aging, cultural competence, anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, stages of change and more. 

Participation in the eighteen hour curriculum is available only upon application and COAPS are interviewed and selected for their interest and innate skills in working with older adults

Over 130 Certified Older Adult Peer Specialists (COAPS) have been trained in Pennsylvania since 2008!

 COAPS represent 30 counties across the state including Allegheny, Armstrong, Berks, Bradford, Bucks, Cambria, Chester, Clearfield, Columbia, Cumberland, Dauphin, Delaware, Erie, Fayette, Franklin, Indiana, Lackawanna, Lebanon, Lehigh, Monroe, Montgomery, Northcumberland, Perry, Philadelphia, Schuylkill, Somerset, Venango, Warren, Washington, Westmoreland and York.
